Notice of slave trade offer and portion of a legal document concerning a land transaction, 1861 August 25, n.d.

Andrews writes a notice to the people of Virginia on behalf of his brother John L. Andrews of Houston, Texas, who wishes to exchange lands in Texas for Negroes. If any Virginians send slaves for one to ten years he will furnish the land and split the profits with the Virginia owners. This may be the draft for a newspaper advertisement. On the verso is a statement by Andrews concerning the receipt of payment on a bond held by W.A. Andrews, 1861 December 31. With these is a fragment of a legal document signed by several members of the Bell family selling a tract of land.
